IMHO, it has been in a different class since V8.

"Will the same extensions run on 'IntelliCAD' run on Bricscad V10? How compatible are they and what will happen in the future"

My guess is that current lisp routines that run on IC6.x will run in Bricscad, but not the other way around due to Bricscad's larger instruction set. SDS modules ought to run with a recompile, although some of the instructions are depreciated.

@Mark: It was said that Bricscad V10 is NOT based on the ITC's code base - does anyone know if that is true?

I know but cannot tell. However, I am curious to know where you heard that.

AFAIK, Bricsys is still a member of the ITC. They are still listed as a member at IntelliCAD.org, although their pag ehas not been updated in a while. It still shows V8.

I created IntelliCAD.net so that IntelliCAD users could discuss issues that matter to them, including issues related to software from Autodesk, IMSI/Design, Graebert, etc. Bricsys is just another company. I do not control what members can or cannot say here. And neither do I want to. My staff only helps me monitor content added here to the extent that it does not fall under spam, porn and similar. Members are free to talk about anything they like. The idea is to encourage discussion and debate and help each other. Use this social network in the precisely the same manner as you use Twitter or Facebook, completely free to say what you wish.

All you have to do is choose help -> about Bricscad and look for what is missing ; )

We just finished migrating our application DTMPRO to Bricscad, I'm really impresed, very easy, much easier than ZwCAD pain.

We quit immediatly on Ares from Graebert (OEM version) and ZwCAD. It will not take long for application developers to discover how brilliant BricsCAD really is.

Hello Dirk,

Now we are being bombarding by Gstarcad, they are offering Gstarcad OEM, I don’t understand how they can offer a cad engine of a cad engine....

About BricsCAD I think the GUI needs some debugging still, but for programmer in general it has a very good performance.

Hi,

i don't understand what you mean with "cad engine of a cad engine". But GstarCAD is again a IntelliCAD based engine. As far as i know there are only 2 none IntelliCAD based clones, this is BricsCAD and Ares from Graebert GmbH. We worked with Greabert for many years and up till end of december 2009 with their new ARES OEM engine. I guess ARES is still in the fase that BricsCAD v8 was... When we discovered the NEW BricsCAD Pro 10 we didn't need to think a minute about what to do. Since beginning of 2010 we now have about 35 customers using our GeOpus with BricsCAD... they just love it. I use BricsCAD for product demo purposes (even for ACAD users), for the workshops, i really don't see any reason anymore to use any other engine. Their API's and engine is VERY stable. It's light and fast. Like the opener of this post says "Do we have to treat it as a different class ?" YES, BricsCAD is of a different class. It's is right under A namely B...

Bricsys did lot's of efforts for their engine the last years and of course the native Linux and Mac versions are coming. Ones this work is done i'm sure they will work on the CUI again.

Just my opinion, but I would not be doing any new development on any Intellicad based platform with IC7 on the horizon. Gstarcad and ZwCad are even bigger question marks since they are ODA members and ITC members, both have made investments in hybrid APIs that may impede their migrating to the IC7/IRXplatform. With Bricscad, the roadmap is very clear and they can remain focused in their goals

Sorry, I wrote "the GUI needs some debugging " instead "the GUI needs to be more user friendly",

examples: options dialog and layer control.
