From my personal experience, Intellicad versions other than ZwCAD are extremely slow in saving files when compared to AutoCAD. I'll not say that ZwCAD is as fast as AutoCAD in saving files - but acceptably fast. Regarding other versions of IntelliCad, I have not tried out the latest versions.

I do not see any problems saving or opening files with intellicad 6.6 , it's quite fast. And my desktop is short on features, comparing with yours...
I usually work with 10 to 20Megs drawing files.

Which IntelliCAD are you using? like ProgeCAD, ZwCAD, BricsCAD etc.

I find that statement hard to believe unless the rules are being broken. Its True, not all IntelliCAD is created equal, but, to significantly change the product in such a way as to improve upon the core functionality of how IntelliCAD interacts with the ODA libraries without contributing said code back to the ITC would constitute violation of the ITC member rules and cause the offending member the chance they might lose their membership. So what your saying here in front of the entire world is that you think that one members software contains changes to core ITC source code, code which is "lent" to the members by virtue of their membership under the understanding that if they fix bugs within the said code, or replace pieces of it to improve, that those same changes are not being offered back to the ITC so that the other members can benefit from the contribution in the spirit of what the ITC stands for? Really. If what you are saying is true, and I am highly suspicious, I would be shocked.

First as is my duty as a member of the IntelliCAD community, I must say that the above statement was solely acted upon by myself as a citizen of the world and not the opinions of my employer, the ITC, nor any of its members. Second, I kid, I kid. Third:Sarcasm is for when you really don't have that good of a sense of humor but you want to pretend you do. Enjoy

Scott,

I believe ZWSoft uses Visual Studio 7.1 as their compiler to build ZWCAD, whereas I believe most IntelliCAD members still use Visual C++ 6.0. So although the underlying source code maybe the same, the response of the object code with the OS and ODA DLLs may vary.

Having said that, I would like to add that sharing improvements with your rivals can sometimes be more of a challenge that it appears to be. More so if everyone is driving down the price of their software in a race to the bottom.

Yeah, it is also a fine squiggly line between what is and what is not required to be delivered. It usually comes down to spirit of knowing who the real evil is and sharing to move one step closer to the huge monolith that is blindly worshipped by the masses of poor lost souls
