I'm wondering to purchase a netbook. (ATOM intel's platform), and to make it a perfect companion in the cantilever. It's small and you can carry all the drawings you want.
Does anybody has any experience using intellicad on this kind of platform ? I don't plan to work on the netbook, but just to carry my archive, and make some notes directly on dwgs in the cantilever or at some technical reviews outdoor.

thanks

How much memory does a netbook have? I must admit I haven't paid a lot of attention to the netbook craze (spending too much time head down in my iPhone, heheh). If sufficient memory, it should run. I would think it may be somewhat slow dependent on the processor but I wouldn't imagine you are going to do major design work on it.

I know Ralph Grabowski uses a netbook (is that a brand name or just a general term) and I think he installed AutoCAD on it. And if AutoCAD can run, progeCAD can run being that progeCAD has a smaller memory footprint than AutoCAD. Perhaps you should give him a shout out on his blog at http://worldcadaccess.typepad.com and see if he can give his views. I think he might even have written an article about it on either his blog or upFront.eZine, his weekly newsletter. There should be archives of it you can search either at the address above or at the upFront website...

Keep us up to date if and when you purchase one to see how things work out.

Netbook can have 2GB of ram, they tipically have N270 intel atom processor and use as storage SSD disk (but few GB) and the are fully linked to internet with wifi. the have 10" display or less. Next generation may be get the new N330 installed that is dual core.

The problem is the processor. Many states sthat these computers are not for producing contents but you use them for "using" contents. You see videos, email , word processor... As far as this is true is just fine to me.

Thanks for the link.

it will work fine

Yes, it will work alright. I have tried it with 2G of RAM and as long as you don't do big 3D drawings.
