Trying to set tick marks at elevations on a XY grid. Ortho and Snap are off.
Here's what I did:
1: New drawing, WCS, draw a 10' spaced grid on layer "Grid"
2: Made a block "Point" consisting of (3) 4" lines, intersecting at mid points at each of the 3 orthogonal directions. Insert point is the lines intersection.
3: Inserted point using .z, keying in the Z coordinate, and clicking on a grid intersection with intersection Osnap on. All other parameters (scale, etc.) are just clicked.
4: Turned off "GRID" layer
5: Draw between 2 or more "POINTS" (int OSNAP still on) either a SPLINE or Polyline.

Going to a 3-D view, some, not all of the spline or polyline points meet with POINT intersection. In trying to correct the error, selecting the spline or polyline, and then selecting a point and trying to drag it to POINT intersection, the intersection is not found.

I have had similar issues with 2-D drawings.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Same here. Just trying to make a line from the end of a line. "Grid" was off. Typed "l" and then "end" or "endpoint". Each command didn't get me to the end of the line. Snaps didn't help either. It looks like the program wants to begin the line from a definite point no closer than a third of the distance between two "acceptable" points which is the line to which I want to begin a line in a new direction. Never had this problem with AutoCAD 2000. Hope that the answer to your problem will solve my problem.

In some respects I'm happy I'm not alone with this issue. Hope a solution appears in the near future. I forgot to say, this is the CMS Intellicad version. Their forum indicates a later version available, but I have E-mail address issues with their web site. (DSL got bought out and ISP changed). Been 3 days and they they haven't answered my E-mail. Their forum has about 1 entry per month. Here's the link to it:

I downloaded Bricscad V10 and ran the very simple file that had the problem. I snapped to the end of the line and kept on truckin'. Having gotten out of the habit of using AutoCAD about 6 years ago, I haven't used any of the Intellicad or Intellicad-based programs. I'm not sure I'll buy any of them. May just be able to get by with AutoCAD LT or some other cheap software that lets me create or look at .dwg files. All the best, Don
PS. Oops. Maybe not. Just looked at the cost of LT on Amazon -- it's way out of my budget for an occasional use program. Maybe I'd better figure out how to use True Space or some other freebie.

Interesting, that a little different flavor of Intellicad, and seems to work. I would think that the commands involved are of the very basic variety.

I started with Acad V2.17, have been with it as a light user, and attended several of the V13, V14 era classes on Acad. Since retired, still a light user, can't afford the Thousands $$ for Acad. Able to do the occasional $350 or annual $130 for Intellicad. Need the Acad compatibility occasionally. In general the CMS Intellicad (been with it probably 13 years) works with occasional quirks. Biggest issues to date have been ghosting, where artifacts are left on the screen, requiring a regen or redraw. Many don't have that issue, might be related to the ATI video cards. But this snap issue, kind of stops me in the tracks

Deelip just sent me the link to download the free Progesoft version. Wonder whether that is 3-D? Downloading now, will report back later, need to clear the fresh snow, temp is 18F,Northern Ohio, USA.

Downloaded and installed free Progesoft and loaded the file. Found that lines and polylines would not snap, nor could I draw to intersections. Most of the splines I was able to snap, or draw between intersections. Loading the file into CMS Intellicad, and trying the same actions, the success rate was next to nothing.

I always thought one could draw lines, polylines, or splines could be drawn between Osnap points in 3-D or 2-D. This seems broke.

For Don Braun, try to snap to the intersection the polyline end nearest "100". The next line is a spline, and that worked with Progesoft.

Think I have my problem cured:
Here's what I did:
1: Wblocked my 3-d point, and opened that drawing. Was able to snap lines to the intersection reliably.
2: Made a Wblock of the all entities of the original drawing. Was able to snap lines and 3DPOLY to the point intersections reliably. Deleted any LTpoly, and splines, replaced them with lines (between 2 points) and 3DPOLY.

I don't know why the original drawing would not snap to the intersections reliably, including plain lines, where in the new drawing they were good. LTplines, polylines are only 2-D entities. And splines move off the points to smooth the curves. In my case, I need the curves to pass through the points.

Thanks again for the help. :)
