KitoxToolset Upgraded to v7 and from now is supported for Bricscad (
http://www.kitox.com/downloads/KitoxToolset.zip ) You can ask me, what's new? Nothing :)
But I want to share - my opinion about Bricscad is very good - something works better and really faster than in AutoCAD.
My point of view was always dedicated to "must work with every A# release". It still must work on AutoCAD 2000 and from now on Bricscad V9 Classic…

Bricscad V10, the latest version of the AutoCAD clone developed by Belgian CAD software developer
Bricsys cannot read AutoCAD 2010 DWG files. As a result it cannot do a lot of things that AutoCAD 2010 can do. Why? Because it is based on
DWGdirect version 2.6. Just to give you an idea how old version 2.6 is, I…

I just wrapped up my one-on-one meeting with SolidWorks CEO Jeff Ray. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss (to the extent that we could) the recent settlement that SolidWorks had with Autodesk on the law suit regarding DWG, orange rectangles and a bunch of other related stuff. The settlement is confidential. So I knew that I would not be able to learn much more than what was available in the public domain. This is how the chat went:
Deelip: From what I gather SolidWork…

When I visited Gent (Belgium) in April last year, Bricsys CEO Erik de Keyser spoke to me at length about the many reasons why Bricsys had begun parallel development of a new CAD system based on the ODA platform.
In the press release, Erik says that leavin…

Since Bricscad's lisp engine supports reactors, why not use them? What are reactors? Well they are call back functions that "react" when an event occurs such as a command or a new document is opened. In this example I will setup three reactors and their callback functions. They will react when a command begins, ends, or is canceled by executing their callback functions, that in this example will change the layer setting depending on the intercepted command, then set the layer back to its origina…

I spent quite a bit of time evaluating alternative cad platforms over the last year or so. I downloaded and tried every flavor of IntelliCAD from CMS to ZWCAD, other CAD platforms such as DoubleCAD. While they're all really decent CAD packages, there is one that stands out from the pack.....
Bricscad.
Over the last year, they have really delivered the goods. One example is their BRX API, released just this year, has gown mature enough for monster applications like OpenDCL to compile without a…
