IntelliCAD.net

The IntelliCAD Network

This thread on the IntelliCAD.net forum alerted me to the fact that you can now get the latest version of IntelliCAD for $50 only. Rolek Ltd., a Hong Kong reseller, posted this download.com link in reply to a question. Take a look at the comments at the bottom of the page. The price is so low that one person has called it illegal and has requested CNET to take down the listing from download.com. The responses from Rolek (the reseller) and DP Tech (the French IntelliCAD vendor) are also interesting.

I went ahead and downloaded the 24 hour trial. I tried to load one of our IntelliCAD plug-ins, but it failed to load. In fact, it could not even load some of it's own DLL's. Maybe they block plug-ins in the trial version.

Such a low price got me wondering. Back here in India, where software piracy is rampant, it is not uncommon for people, especially professional like architects and freelancers, to buy an IntelliCAD license to be legitimate and use pirated AutoCAD for their real work. I did a quick search on the internet and found that I could purchase an AutoCAD 2009 cracked DVD for $75. So a licensed IntelliCAD is cheaper than a cracked AutoCAD. I never thought I would live to see this day.

progeSOFT was misled by the anonymous web campaign where the name of the ITC member
was not visible and with the fact the download software available at that time on the Rolek's website doesn't
contain a Splash Screen and About box compliant with the ITC rules.
These give us the false impression of a an infringement of IP was in act.
For these reason we asked ITC to investigate.
All the situation is clear and I realize the EULA and the VENDORNAME variable were belonging to DPTech.
My fault was not be able to see this during my first analysis.

In the name of progeSOFT and progeSOFT's partners I apologize to Rolek and DPTech for this misunderstanding

This is a message for caddit (Reseller of ProgeCAD powered by IntelliCAD)

A few weeks ago when Rolek launched this software you sent an e-mail to the company hosting our website requiring them to close the website claiming the IntelliCAD Technology Consortium was launching legal actions against us.

This was not true and is still not true. The ITC is not taking any action against us for the simple reason that we are an official reseller of an official member of the ITC just the same as you are a reseller of Progesoft.

Following the e-mail you sent to The Planet who was hosting our website, www.smart-dwg.com was closed. The ITC lawyer and officers immediatly confirmed we had the rights to resell IntelliCAD and asked to reopen the website.

Of course the closure of our website means a very high prejudice for Rolek. What you did is to be qualified as defamation and we have evidence of that because we received a copy of the e-mail you sent. As you are an IntelliCAD reseller it is easy to understand your motivations for such an unfair behaviour.

From our perspective this is the proof that you have seen our launching offer as being very competitive but nevertheless we have a copy of the message you sent and reserve the right to claim for prejudice.

As a result I would strongly recommand you cease immediatly any defamation. Rolek is not violating any rule as you are stating and legally reselling this software.

Interesting. Do you know if the guidelines that the ITC lays out for its members are public? Can you point me to them? I'd would like to take a look at them.

Maybe the ITC should have some sort of check on its members to see that they maintain a minimum standard.
