Do you know if progeSOFT will update to IntelliCAD 7 platform like Bricscad did? I'm running progeSOFT V8pro right now, but have heard a lot of good things about Bricscad. What is the best AutoCAD clone right now with strong 2D & 3D tools?

Are you spamming us? Really?

Seems like a hard way to make a living. Perhaps you have been leaving the posts on the contact us form on my website in hopes... what... that someone in my company wants your viagra or needs to send you money in Nigeria?

Good luck to you, at this rate you should hit the first page of google about, oh I'd say the year 4020 when you finally have enough back links to shoot right to the top for the key word "various". congratulations!

"First the ITC needs to finish development of IntelliCAD 7 (tentatively by June 2009). While they are doing so, they will release beta's to their members who will start the process of porting their verticals to the new platform."

I think that the idea that verticals will need to be ported to the new platform assumes that the verticals do not perform adequately on the API they are built on. I find that I can do most of what is available in ARX or Visual LISP within AutoLISP or SDS (ADS) using some creative programming and still allow the entities I create to be standard DWG entities not proxy hell custom objects. I do not understand why, when there are users out there who are complaining about proxy objects from AutoCAD verticals, and now these proxy hell objects are included in BASE AutoCAD for 2010, not just their verticals, that the CAD journalists just sit back and don't say a word. Why is there no outcry over the vendor lockin, the incompatibility, the shenanigans Autodesk pulls to try and force their customers onto their products?

i think the Open Design Alliance really needs to update the product and member page as it is outdated

look forward to 7 and what happens

Hello Howard,

Have you ever try Bricscad ?
What is your opinion compare to progeCAD ?

With so many "CAD" programs available to choose from I agree the best option is to try some free trials. I downloaded six different software programs before choosing progeCAD. I was the right pick for me at the time and I'm still happy with it.

Recently I installed a 30 trial of AutoCAD 2009. It is a resource hog-more than progeCAD. My progeCAD files opened well in AutoCAD. I made some changes, saved it to 2007, and re-opened in my progeCAD. There were no problems.

Still, I appreciate progeCAD's ease of use and great price. It does everything without a lot of "bells and whistles". I can add those as needed. By the way - will there be a LISP editor created by intellicad that I can use within progeCAD? A program similar to visual lisp would make a great addition.

I believe that if the ITC does not manage to get IntelliCAD 7 right, some members may take the route that Bricsys and IMSI have taken. And that will be a sad thing. Strength lies in Unity.

"it's no sin to admit you promote your own products"

Just as I promote products of other CAD vendors. Its a CAD blog after all and I need to talk about CAD software, right?

Commercial blog, eh? Do you see any Google Ads there?

For the record, Bricscad is technically not an IntelliCAD. Bricsys has already removed almost all of the ITC's IntelliCAD 6 code. They have written a completely new platform from ground up using the technology from the Open Design Alliance. And that is precisely what the ITC has been doing with IntelliCAD 7. So Bricscad and IntelliCAD 7 are parallel developments using the same underlying libraries from the ODA. Bricscad is not the new IntelliCAD 7. It is quite similar to what IntelliCAD 7 is going to be.

First the ITC needs to finish development of IntelliCAD 7 (tentatively by June 2009). While they are doing so, they will release beta's to their members who will start the process of porting their verticals to the new platform. Then the members need to extensively test their new versions before they eventually release them to their customers.

So to answer your question, I believe progeSOFT will eventually upgrade to the IntelliCAD 7 platform, as will every other ITC member. I don't think any ITC member can offer a release date yet, especially since the ITC has still not finished development of IntelliCAD 7.

Personally, I believe that IntelliCAD 7 has the ability to alter the 2D CAD landscape. Just that the ITC members need to stop the infighting and come together to fight their common enemy.
